Including Nenagh Community Special School in the first phase will offer a meaningful boost to families in the area.
Deputy Ryan O'Meara, Fianna Fáil TD for North Tipperary and Spokesperson on Education and Youth, enthusiastically welcomed the launch of the new Education Therapy Service (ETS). He described it as a game-changer that will open new doors for children with additional needs and their families in Tipperary.
Deputy O'Meara said: "The new service is led by my colleague, Minister for Special Education and Inclusion, Michael Moynihan. It will place therapists directly in school communities to give students the vital support they need."

“This is a landmark step forward in how we support children with special educational needs, and I am particularly pleased to see Nenagh Community Special School included from the very beginning,” said Deputy O’Meara.
Nenagh Community Special School shines through its dedication each day. With therapy supports now available in the school, children’s development, learning, and well-being will flourish. Families who have faced long waits or journeys for help will finally feel relief. The Education Therapy Service is a cornerstone promise in the Programme for Government. It will be delivered by the National Council for Special Education. This service will work with current health and disability supports. This ensures help is available right when and where it is needed.
Deputy O'Meara emphasised that this initiative reflects Fianna Fáil’s dedication to creating inclusive services that empower every child to thrive and reach their full potential.
He added, “Embedding therapists in schools is a practical reform that ensures children receive timely, coordinated support where they learn.”
I look forward to seeing the service expand in the months ahead. More schools and families across Tipperary will benefit. The first 90 therapists have now been recruited to support 45 schools. This marks a major milestone. In the coming months, therapists will be matched with schools. Preparations for local rollout are already underway.
