An Coimisiún Pleanála (ACP) is now expected to make a decision on Tipperary County Council’s proposed compulsory purchase of Kearney’s Castle in Cashel by May 29th.

Tipperary County Council began the process to acquire 16 and 17 Main Street, Cashel, in September 2025. The application was sent to ACP on October 31st, 2025, and a decision was expected on March 9th.

The Council hopes to breathe new life into the long-vacant hotel by transforming it into a vibrant Visitor Centre for Cashel. This new hub would showcase the Bolton Library Collection and is set to draw more people into the heart of the town. The case reference with An Coimisiún Pleanála is CD92.323886.
