The Church of the Sacred Heart in Upperchurch raised €10,410 to fix its roof, with a remarkable €7,500 collected during a touching Memorial Walk on February 22nd, held in memory of Maureen Armstrong.
Ms Armstrong passed away just shy of her 100th birthday on February 27th, 2025. To celebrate her remarkable life on her first anniversary, her family brought the community together for a day of remembrance with two memorial walks.
Armstrong inspired people across Ireland with her infectious optimism and her incredible achievement of completing 25 Women’s Mini Marathons, starting her marathon journey at 69. Martina Heffernan, speaking for the family, expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported them and to the dedicated hall team in Upperchurch.
