Legendary Tipperary referee Paddy Russell honoured for half century of service

Well-known Tipperary GAA referee Paddy Russell received a presentation from The Friends of Tipperary Football to celebrate his 50 years as a referee.

During his long and distinguished career the Emly man has taken charge of two All-Ireland senior football finals, the 1990 decider between Cork and Meath, and the 1995 final between Dublin and Tyrone.

As well as the two All-Ireland finals, Paddy also oversaw a National League final and club finals.

He bowed out of the inter-county scene after 26 years of refereeing in 2008, but continues to take charge of club games.

Paddy is wished many more years of refereeing.
