This popular series of gatherings offers Tipperary artists a platform to discuss their work and what inspires them in an informal, supportive environment.

Rebecca Lenehan, Artistic Director of the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival, says: “Being an artist can be a very solitary existence, creating without peer feedback until you have work to present and at the festival we’re really conscious to break down barriers between artists and audiences for everyone’s benefit.

“Audiences love to see behind the curtain of creation and gain insights into the creative process - and equally artists really appreciate opportunities to test ideas and meet their audience informally. This is the idea behind the ‘Meet the Artist’ series and is proving a really thoughtful, enjoyable experience for everyone. We’re really looking forward to welcoming Eve to The Platform in April – she’s an amazing musician with a bright future.”

Eve began writing her original songs from an early age but began to release them to the world in her teens. Eve’s songs are written from the heart, drawing inspiration from personal experience and her interactions with the world around her. She has performed her original music at a number of events and festivals.

Eve was a recipient of the Dónal (Doc) Gleeson award from the music department at UCC, based on her performance of her original songs, and is currently completing her degree in music in SETU Waterford.

Eve Whelan says: “I have always found solace in songwriting and poetry while growing up. I feel so privileged that Clonmel Junction Arts Festival have given me a platform to share what I create since I started my original music career when I was eighteen.

“I think it’s so important, now more so than ever, to support the local arts. There is so much talent on our doorstep, and I urge everyone to make the effort to attend more live gigs and in-person events instead of staying in and watching everything after the fact on social media. Thanks so much to Rebecca for offering me a space to perform and speak about my music on the 2nd April.”

Come to The Platform on Thursday 2nd April at 6pm to hear what is inspiring Eve’s recent work. All welcome at this free event.
If you are a Tipperary artist and would like to be considered for ‘Meet the Artist’ please email info@junctionfestival.com with your bio and description of your recent work in any genre/media.
