Four walkers were rescued this weekend following an emergency situation in the Galtee Mountains in County Tipperary, after deteriorating weather conditions left them disoriented during their hike.
At 9.25 yesterday morning, a call-out was received from An Garda Síochána requesting assistance for the group, who had lost their bearings as conditions deteriorated.
Members of the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) made their way to the Black Road and were transported up in the team Land Rovers.

They made their way into the walkers location. The walkers were wet and cold, they were put into a kisu (storm shelter) and given some dry clothes. Inside the shelter, the walkers were given dry clothing and time to recover, allowing their body temperatures to stabilize.
Once they’d warmed up a bit they were able to walk out, guided and helped by SEMRA members. They were put into a Land Rover and transported back to their own vehicle.
Stand down issued at 13:12 and the operation ended with everyone safely off the hill.
