Free-scoring Cullen Lattin defeat Ardcroney in high-scoring and entertaining cup tie

Cullen/Lattin welcomed North Tipperary side Ardcroney to Aisling Park on Sunday in the FAI Junior Cup in what turned out to be one of the most entertaining ties of the second round.

Ardcroney struck first on 10 minutes when Jack Daly finished well from a Ciaran Spain cross.

Cullen were awarded a penalty on 24 minutes when Jordan Dineen was brought down in the area. Dineen stepped up and slotted his effort to the keeper’s left to level the game.

On 42 minutes Dineen made it 2-1 with a fine team move involving Tony O’Neill and Javi Serrano before finishing confidently.
Cullen extended their lead on 58 minutes when Dineen played an excellent through ball to Micheál Elligott, who finished well.
However, Ardcroney showed great character to fight back. On 63 minutes Matthew Moyles played Daly through and he scored to make it 3-2.

Daly then turned provider on 70 minutes when he set up Moyles to equalise.

Cullen regained the lead on 78 minutes when Elligott headed home from a Javi Serrano cross.

Elligott completed his hat-trick on 86 minutes with the pick of the goals, cutting in from the left and curling a superb effort into the top corner.
