Dymphna Ryan set a strong pace from the start
Ballyneale was the venue for the County Senior Road Championships.
Conditions were good for running. Both races started together, with the women running 5k and the men 10k. It was great to see very good entries for both races and clubs are to be complimented for getting their members competing.
In the women’s race Dymphna Ryan of Dundrum AC, the defending champion made her intentions known from the start by setting a strong pace and she was soon well clear of the chasing pack. The chasing pack included the Moyne AC duo of Orla Healy and Eileen McCullough, as well as Amanda Moroney of Clonmel AC. Dymphna maintained that strong pace to come home a very worthy and convincing champion in 17 minutes 34 seconds.
This was a brilliant performance by Dymphna, who was winning her seventh County Senior road title in a row.
Then we had Amanda Moroney Clonmel AC, who was recently third in the County Novice iin Lisvernane, underlining her great potential when running a great race to win the silver medal in 18 minutes 47 seconds.
