Gardaí in Tipperary have issued a warning to matchgoers travelling to Thurles this weekend for Tipperary’s Munster Championship opening fixture against Cork.
The reigning All-Ireland champions will welcome the Rebels to Semple Stadium this Sunday for their first clash of the new campaign, and fans are expected to arrive in droves for the match.

Ahead of the game, gardaí in Tipperary have issued an alert to spectators to make note of road works that are currently ongoing around the stadium.
They suggested that drivers takes the following routes to ease congestion and reduce delays:
- M7 - Moneygall - Dunkerrin - Templemore - Thurles;
- M7 Roscrea - Templemore - Thurles;
- M8 - Cashel - Holycross - Thurles;
- M8 - Exit 6 (Horse & Jockey) - Thurles;
- M8 - Exit 5 (Two-Mile Borris) - Thurles.

They have urged those driving to Thurles to avoid the Nenagh to Latteragh R498, to Borrisoleigh road, citing extensive road works and stop/go traffic lights along the route, and telling drivers who plan on taking this route to expect delays.
