St Ailbe's school Tipperary, say they have had an amazing run of success in recent weeks on the playing fields and courts around Munster and further afield, in what they say has been an incredibly busy time for sport in the school.

Pride of place goes to second year student Neasa Moloney, who was selected for the Irish schools Cross Country team and delivered a silver medal performance at the SIAB International Championships in Wales recently.

The school says this is a fantastic achievement for an emerging local Tipperary talent.

They say Neasa has been performing at a consistently high level, and that this is a just reward for a very dedicated athlete.

The St Ailbe's Junior girls' basketballers also experienced tremendous success recently in winning the Southeastern regional final.

Along with the first and second year team qualifying for the All-Ireland playoffs, Basketball for both girls and boys is going from strength to strength in St Ailbe's, due to the hard work that is put in on a daily and weekly basis.

In addition to the basketball success, the boys U15 rugby team have qualified for the semi-finals of the Munster Cleary Cup competition.

They are due to play St John the Baptist school in this clash shortly after the Easter holidays.

The U14 boys team had the distinction of playing in Thomond Park recently, a memory that the school says will always stay with them.

Furthermore, in Ladies football, the St Ailbe's senior and minor teams have reached their respective Munster Finals, to be played in the coming week.

Both teams are backboned with a healthy sprinkling of intercounty players and are hopeful of further success.

Outside of school, St Ailbe's students have also been featuring a lot on representative teams recently.

Mollie Moore, Lily Mai Collins and Megan Noonan were on the U18 Garryowen rugby team that won the Munster Plate in Tralee recently, while Mia McCormack and Emma O’Shea represented Tipperary with the U16 footballers.

Third year students Billy Magner, Ryan Devitt and Paddy Cavanagh are performing very well with the Tipp U16 footballers, while first and second year students Pat and Jack O'Dwyer, Joe O'Brien and Shane Leonard have been selected on the West U14 panel.

Finally, third year student Sarah Ryan, a recent recipient of the Annerville Award, featured in this year’s St Patrick’s Day 'Parade of Champions', further recognition for this student's marvellous talent.

The school says well done to all the students and staff of St Ailbe's on their commitment and dedication.
