14 B Shield Final
Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams 2-04
Eire Og Annacarty 2-03
On Saturday morning Knockavilla and Annacarty played out a highly entertaining contest in the u 14 B shield final.
The neighbouring clubs always serve up classics when they meet and Saturday's final proved no different. After the 40 minutes of action Kickhams were leading by a goal 2-03 to 1-03.
Playing with the aid of a strong breeze Annacarty were beginning to get on top and a goal in the 41st minute made it all square 2-03 apiece. Annacarty then went in search of a winner but some ferocious defending by Sophie O’Dwyer and Ciara Breen Keane kept the scores out.
And then in the 49th minute captain Aine Leahy stepped up and fired the winning point over the crossbar. A terrific point into the wind.
It was heartbreaking for Annacarty to lose at the death by a single point while there were great scenes of joy for Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams at the final whistle.
