Wreaths have been laid in memory of all the Irish men and women who have lost their lives in service.
Events took place across the Republic to mark the National Day of Commemoration to remember those who lost their lives in past wars, or on peacekeeping deployments with the United Nations.
Irish President Michael D Higgins laid a wreath on behalf of the Government at Collins Barracks in Cork before a flypast by the Air Corps.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the event was “particularly poignant” following the killing of Private Sean Rooney, 24, from Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal, who was in Lebanon last December.
“This ceremony is not just about the past, it is also about the present as Irish people today continue to travel overseas in the cause of peace and democracy risking life and limb,” he said.
