'Now an angel in heaven' - Clare teenager who died suddenly will be laid to rest on Friday

A Clare teenager who died suddenly will be laid to rest on Friday (September 29). 

Fourteen year old Sarah Mescall, who was a 2nd year pupil in Coláiste Mhuire Ennis, reportedly died on Monday September 25 in Crumlin Hospital in Dublin surrounded by her family. 

According to the Irish Independent, she her tragic death occurred after taking part in a "viral social media challenge". 

In a statement, Inagh-Kilnamona GAA Club - of which Sarah was a member - said, "On Wednesday evening last, we learned of the sudden illness of such a lovely young girl & this was compounded when we heard of the passing of Sarah on Monday afternoon.

"There are no words to describe the shock and sadness of the community and our hearts go out to Sarah's parents Joe and Deirdre, brother Jack and sister Emily, her grandad PJ, our Club President and his wife Mary, Sarah's uncle Oliver, our Club Chairperson and the extended Mescall and Power families.

"Sarah was only beginning on her journey of life, a lovable, kind, energetic and fun loving girl. Now an angel in heaven, may she rest in peace." 

Sarah's body will repose at Kilnamona Church today (Thursday September 28) from 4pm to 7pm. 

A funeral mass to celebrate her short life will take place at 11am on Friday (September 29), with burial in the adjoining cemetery afterwards. 

Family flowers only please and donations, if desired, to Crumlin and Temple Street Hospitals.
