A COMMUNITY in County Limerick woke to sad news this Friday morning after it was confirmed a local man had died in Paris.

It's understood the middle-aged man, who is from a village in County Limerick, passed away on Thursday shortly after he arrived in the French capital.

It is believed he travelled there for this weekend's Rugby World Cup match between Ireland and Scotland which takes place at Stade de France on Saturday night.

At this stage, there is nothing to suggest the man's death is suspicious.

It's understood the Department of Foreign Affairs has been informed and is liaising with French officials.
