Irish women rescued following fall from cliffs in Portugal

The women, believed to be a mother and two daughters, got into trouble after slipping from the edge of a cliff and falling into a ravine

Three Irish women were rescued following a fall from a cliff on Tuesday morning in Albufeira, Portugal.

The women, believed to be a mother and two daughters, got into trouble after slipping from the edge of a cliff and falling into a ravine.

The women, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time, slipped as she sat on the edge of the cliff between Rossio and Porto de Abrigo.

Becoming trapped in the ravine, the other two women attempted to help her which subsequently ended with all three women becoming trapped. 

The alarm was raised just before 2am and emergency services rushed to their aid for the rescue operation.
