ALERT: Road closures ahead of Munster clash could bring chaos as thousands flock to stadium

As rugby enthusiasts gear up for the highly anticipated Munster V Crusaders clash this Saturday at 5pm, attendees are advised to plan their journey carefully due to temporary traffic restrictions and road closures around the stadium.

The match, scheduled to take place at the Páirc Uí Chaoimh, is expected to draw a crowd of around 41,000.

Gardaí are advising that car parks in the city center are open and within easy walking distance of the stadium. Pedestrians will be given priority after the match, and vehicles will be held for pedestrian safety.

Individuals with official car passes should approach the stadium from the Victoria Road roundabout before 2pm.

Public or shared transport is encouraged, with the 202 Bus departing every 20 minutes from Merchants Quay to Mahon Point.

Motorists are being asked not block entrances to housing estates, business premises, parks.

Drivers are also being asked not to park in disability spaces, bus stops or footpaths, and to avoid parking in areas that may restrict access for emergency vehicles.

Gardaí are also advising coaches and buses to park on Boreenmanna Road, facing the South City Link Road for post-match priority.

As for road closures, from 9am, parts of Monahan Road and Maryville will be closed at various junctions, and from 2pm, additional closures will be in effect at Churchyard Lane, Crab Lane, Centre Park Road, and Monahan Road.

In this case, taxis are advised to use the drop-off area on Victoria Road, just before Marina Walk, and large public service vehicles should set down and pick up on Boreenmanna Road, near the Maxol filling station.

The stadium is accessible by foot only from the city center via Centre Park Road and Monahan Road, a 15-minute walk. Access is also available from Boreenmanna Road is possible via Churchyard Lane and Maryville, a 10-minute walk.

The 202 Bus travels from the city to Blackrock village, dropping off and picking up at Ballintemple (2-minute walk to the stadium via Maryville).

After the game, attendees are requested to follow the directions of Gardaí and stewards. Due to an expected attendance of 41,000, patience is requested when leaving the stadium and its surroundings.

Rugby fans are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and adhere to the specified guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all attending the Munster V Crusaders match this Saturday.
