Gardaí arrest five men after car chase results in collision with two Garda vehicles

Gardaí have arrested five people involved in a car chase which resulted in a collision with two Garda vehicles.

According to An Garda Síochána, Gardaí on patrol in Sutton, Dublin 13 on Saturday May 18 attempted to stop a vehicle which - eye witnesses claim - was missing its doors on one side.

The car failed to stop for Gardaí when directed to do so and a managed containment operation was put in place.

During the operation, the car collided with two official Garda vehicles, however no officers were injured during the collision.

The car was brought to a stop in Darndale, Dublin 17 and all five occupants (four in their 30s and one in his 20s) of the vehicle were arrested.

They were all conveyed to a Garda Station in the DMR North Region.

Three of the arrested men were released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, while two of the men (aged in their 20s and 30s) were charged in relation to the incident and are due to appear before court at a later date.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Howth Garda station on 01 666 4900, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
