Second teenager dies after e-scooter and bus crash in Waterford

A second teenager has died after a collision between an e-scooter and a bus in Waterford.

The incident occurred before 2.10am on Thursday on the Cork Road in Waterford city.

A male teenager who was travelling on the e-scooter was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second male teenager who was also travelling on the e-scooter was taken to Waterford University Hospital with serious injuries.

He died as a result of his injuries on Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the bus, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was uninjured.

A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to provide support to the families.

The Cork Road has reopened after being closed for a time to allow for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
