Two men have been arrested following a major drugs intelligence operation yesterday, in which over one million euro worth of drugs were seized.
As part of an intelligence-led operation on Thursday, Revenue officers seized approximately 62.5kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1,250,000 in the Kildare area.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB). A further €12,000 worth of cocaine was recovered by Gardaí in a follow-up search.
The two males, aged in their 20s and 30s respectively, were arrested by An Garda Síochána and are currently detained at a Garda Station in County Kildare under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
A spokesperson for the gardaí confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
