A wave measuring 19.5 metres in height has been recorded by the M6 Buoy out West of Ireland in the Atlantic.

The 64 foot wave or the wave the equivalent of over four double decker buses high is expected to make up part of the "huge seas" approaching the West Coast.

Alan O'Reilly from the Carlow Weather Twitter/X account updated the public about this enormous wave alongside satellite images today, October 20.

A number of status orange and status yellow warnings, issued by Met Éireann, remain in place this Sunday afternoon
