The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued a warning to Irish customers after a safety issue was identified with Morco Open-Flue Gas Water Heaters.

The heaters are commonly used in mobile homes or caravans and other domestic settings. Anyone who may have one of these heaters are being urged to not use it and contact Morco immediately.

According to the CCPC's notice: "The product has a risk of fire, explosion, and injuries. There is a risk of gas leaking which, if ignited may cause burns, explosions, and injuries."

The are four models impacted by the notice, they include Primo 6(MP6), Primo 11 (MP11), EUP6 and EUP11.

It is worth noting for customers that these particular models were sold between 2018 and 2023.

Around 1,000 of these affected products are in the Republic of Ireland.

The CCPC has also listed the distributors in the country who have sold or installed the heaters. The list includes Mectec Gas Limited, Gas Equipment Ireland and Burkes Caravan Services Limited, all of which are in Cork. In addition to these, Johnston’s Caravans Limited in Donegal as well as Gas Home Limited in Dublin were mentioned.

People who have these heaters are warned not to use them. The CCPC advised that those affected should isolate the gas supply to the water heater immediately by turning off the isolation valve to the water heater.
