In 2024, Jack was the most popular baby name for boys in Ireland, while Sophie took the top spot for girls names for the first time since 2010, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) has revealed.
The name Jack has held the number one spot for almost every year since 2007, with the exception of 2016 when James was crowned the most popular boys name of that year. Both names have held a spot in the top five for the last 26 years.
Following close behind in the number two spots were Noah and Éabha. Coming in third are Rían and Grace, which was the most popular name for baby girls in 2023.

Cillian and Emily came in fourth and concluding the top ten were the names James and Fiadh.
The CSO also confirmed there was some new additions to the list, that have never been seen before in the top 100 names.
For boys, Rowan, Caleb and Iarlaith made their mark for the first time, while girls names Hallie, Rhea, Caragh and Aurora made their first appearances. Caleb is the highest mover in the list, jumping up 51 places from 2023.
