Man hospitalised following standoff at house as 'media blackout' lifted after negotiations

A man was hospitalised on Sunday evening following a standoff with gardaí at a home in Portlaw, Co Waterford.

The incident arose on Sunday afternoon with An Garda Síochána requesting a media blackout, which has since been lifted.

The blackout was requested shortly before 4pm as emergency services and garda negotiators attended the incident at a domestic residence on Brown Street in Portlaw.

The blackout was lifted at around 9.30pm last night after the situation was "resolved" and a man was transported to a hospital in the south east of the country for medical treatment.

There were no other injuries reported, and gardaí continue to investigate.
