Man aged in his 60s dies in Cork house fire

A man in his 60s has died in a house fire in Cork.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire in Hollyhill at around 12.45am on Monday.

Another occupant, a woman aged in her 60s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The fire was extinguished by Cork City Fire Brigade.

The scene was preserved for a technical examination.

A garda spokeswoman said: “A post-mortem examination is to be arranged for the deceased. The local coroner has been notified.”
