RIP: Shock and sadness as Irish woman (73) tragically hit by bus in London

Police in the UK are investigating an incident in which a Mayo woman aged in her 70s died after being hit by a bus in London, Mayo Live has reported.

Just before 6 pm, on Sunday, August 17, paramedics were called to the scene of an incident in which a 73-year-old woman was struck by a bus in West London. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Since then, the woman has been identified as Mayo native Kathleen Kilcoyne who moved to London.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that no arrests have been made in relation to the incident and that the driver of the bus is cooperating with their investigations into the circumstances of the tragic incident.

"Police were called at on Sunday, August 17, following reports of a serious road traffic collision in Neasden, Brent," a statement read.

"Officers were joined by the London Ambulance Service at the junction of Neasden Lane with Dudden Hill Lane, where a bus had been in collision with a pedestrian.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 73-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene."

Funeral arrangements for Ms Kilcoyne are yet to be confirmed.
