New appeal for information 25 years after disappearance of Kildare man in Dublin

A fresh appeal for information has been made 25 years on from the disappearance of Trevor Deely in Dublin city.

The 22-year-old originally from Co Kildare was last seen on December 7, 2000, as he attended his work Christmas party at the Hilton Hotel.

Gardai said he went on to Buck Whaley’s nightclub on Leeson Street which he left between 2.30am and 3.25am on December 8.

They said the weather on the night in question was extremely wet and there was a taxi strike in progress.

A Garda spokesperson said: “At 3.35am, on December 8, Trevor Deely called to his place of work at Bank of Ireland, Asset Management Offices, Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin 2.

“CCTV footage of the rear entrance of Bank of Ireland, Asset Management Offices on Wilton Terrace, Dublin 2 at 3.35am on the 8th December 2000 shows an unknown male conversing with Trevor Deely at the back gate of BIAM.

“Gardai are still looking to identify this male who may have information that could assist the investigation.

“Trevor Deely was last sighted on CCTV passing the Bank of Ireland ATM on Haddington Road at 4.14am.

“Trevor Deely, who was 6ft 1ins tall, with a slim build, short red/brown hair, fair complexion, was last sighted wearing a mustard and brown checked shirt, beige/grey corduroy flared trousers, dark deck shoes with white stripes, a green padded jacket, carrying a large dark blue umbrella with white ACC Bank lettering.”

Gardai at Pearse Street garda station are appealing for information that will assist the investigation into Mr Deely’s disappearance.
