Terrifying' - Ireland AM star opens up about disturbing present she received from sick fan

Elaine Crowley on Ireland AM

Recently on Ireland AM, tv presenter Elaine Crowley shared a disturbing incident that happened to her involving a big fan of hers.

She started by warning people to never post where your location is at the exact time you are there if you are 'anyway in the public eye at all'.

This is because it can make it very easy for anyone to try and track you down, which is exactly what happened to the Ireland AM presenter herself.

"I got a fright....someone travelled 400 miles in a taxi once to come to the same place I was at....it terrified me," Elaine said.

"After that I was like never, ever again am I doing anything like that because....they think they know you which is absolutely bizarre".

The tv personality also said that a present was left for her at the building she was no longer at when the fan had arrived.

"Thankfully I was in a different building...thank God....the stuff in that (present) was disturbing to say the least...it's all fun and games laughing about it but it can turn sinister very quickly".

journalist and author Tanya Sweeney was also speaking with Elaine on the topic of parasocial relationships and she said: "we're at a really interesting crunch point where we think they (celebrities) are our friends and we know them intimately...we've seen inside their houses and we know where they are at at any time of the day....we see them as public property and not really as human".
