Roscrea Trail Blazers on their first club walk of 2025 with a 10km walk along the banks of The Nore from Kilkenny to Bennetsbridge
The Roscrea Trail Blazers are all set for the new year and have plenty of excursions planned over the coming months with events organised in Ireland and abroad.
It is a great way to get out and about and get fresh air. A spokesperson on behalf of the group said: “Happy new year to all our members and future hiking buddies.
“We have a packed 2025 ahead with several trips overseas and a lot of challenge walks over the coming months. Due to the poor weather forecast last week our Thursday night walk was postponed.
“Our first club walk this month will be The Lough Boora Parkland Loop, this Thursday. This is a flat, 9km walk and is classed as easy/moderate.
“Meeting at The Lough Boora Parkland Trail Head at 7.30 pm. Please bring head/hand torch and Hi Viz jacket.
“We would encourage anyone thinking of taking up hiking for better health or as a way to destress to please make contact with the number below.
“Last Sunday our club members had a very enjoyable walk from Kilkenny, along The Nore River and finishing up in Bennetsbridge for a well-deserved cup of Coffee at Nicholas Mosse Coffee shop.
“Well done to everyone that made the effort. To join the group and to see what the club has to offer please follow the contact details below.
“If you would like to join us on any of our night walks or weekends away, you can contact Cathal on 086 3399 193 and receive updates through WhatsApp. You will be made feel very welcome to the Trail Blazers Team.”
