Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has suggested that Liverpool shot-stopper Caoimhín Kelleher may be on the move this summer due to his lack of game time on Merseyside.

Following Ireland's squad announcement for this month's Euro 2024 qualifiers, Kenny was asked about the Cork native's club situation.

"It looks like Caoimhín will be on the move this summer because he needs games, he has been starved of games," Kenny said.

The Cork native has only appeared four times for the Reds this season with Alisson remaining Jurgen Klopp's go-to man thanks to his impressive performances in net.

Kenny continued: "He [Kelleher] is very, very talented. It is hard to leave Liverpool, such an iconic club but he’s 24 now and needs to play.

"He’s behind one of the best goalkeepers in the world and it's not going to get any easier. You can’t improve if you are not playing. He knows that. He’s known that for a while."

According to recent reports, a number of Premier League clubs have expressed their interest in signing Kelleher with Brentford, Brighton and Spurs among the names being mentioned.

Klopp debunked claims of a transfer as he remarked "I can't see Caoimh leaving. It must be an extraordinary offer" when asked about the Irishman's future.

The Boys in Green face Greece away from home on June 16 before they host Gibraltar at the Aviva Stadium on June 19.
