1920's terrace house, dream home in the west of Ireland and a period-inspired new build feature in the latest episode of Home of the Year

A 1920's terrace house in Dublin, a dream home in the west of Ireland and a period-inspired new build in Antrim will all feature in the latest episode of RTÉ's Home of the Year which will be broadcast this Tuesday night.

Season ten of the popular TV series continues at 8.30pm on RTÉ One television and the RTÉ Player as another home is selected for the final.

Only one of the three properties featured (read more below) will make it through to the final which will broadcast in April.

Season 10, Episode 6: 1920's terrace home in Dublin

When Shane and Marty (pictured below) purchased their home in 2022, it was in a state of disrepair.

Renovating the home was a big project which involved them upgrading the heating system, replacing windows and knocking down a wall.

They also repositioned the kitchen and gutted the interior and exterior of the home and they even changed the front garden layout to allow for an electric charging station for the car.

Shane and Marty’s style was inspired by their passion for hotels and travel and they love how their home represents their personalities and their lives together.

Season 10, Episode 6: Dream home in Co. Mayo

Lorraine and Mike (pictured below) spent years looking for a good site to build and eventually found it while driving through the countryside in Mayo.

In 2020 they started from the ground up, building their dream home.

When deciding on a design aesthetic, the couple were on the same page as they both loved modern homes that are simple yet timeless.

They enjoyed selecting their choice of materials and adding in geometric shapes and lines throughout. Lorraine and Michael have remained true to their tastes and needs as a family.

They say every design element was purposeful and deliberate and that it is perfect for their family of four.

Lorraine created magical children’s bedrooms by hand painting their chosen designs across their walls which both their boys love.

Season 10, Episode 6: Period-inspired new build in Antrim

Charlene and Alan live in a period-inspired new build home in Co. Antrim with their two young children.

Charlene and Alan had always dreamed of building their own home and after the birth of their second child they decided it was time to relocate back to Ireland after years of living in Yorkshire.

After they secured their ideal location, they worked closely with their architect to bring their period inspired home to life.

Charlene was extremely hands-on with the build, managing it herself, and the house design is fully centred around how the family lives, with a shared family space and also a grown-up living room for entertaining.

The couple are proud that they’ve created a home that feels welcoming for guests and a place to enjoy life and family.

Making the difficult decisions for the tenth series of Home of the Year are the judging panel of architects Hugh Wallace and Amanda Bone and interior designer Sara Cosgrove.

Home of the Year is produced by ShinAwiL for RTÉ One and RTÉ Player and it broadcast at 8.30pm on Tuesdays.
