Every week a new name seems to be linked to the vacant Republic of Ireland job and it was no different over the last 24 hours.
The men's managerial process, which has been ongoing since Stephen Kenny's departure last November, led to Chris Coleman being touted for the job since Sunday. Following the reported FAI interest in the ex-Wales boss, a BoyleSports spokesperson confirmed their market swiftly slammed shut after Coleman fell from 25/1 before the weekend to 10/11 yesterday.
This evening these reports were dismissed after BBC Sport Wales stated that Coleman is "no longer in contention to succeed Stephen Kenny as Republic of Ireland boss."
Meanwhile, news broke on Sunday that Neil Lennon was also ruled out of the race after FAI director of football Marc Canham contacted the former Celtic manager to inform him of their decision.
It has been no secret that Lee Carsley was the FAI's favoured candidate since the process began but there remains uncertainty over whether the England under-21 head coach would take on the role.
An interim appointment has also been mentioned which would likely see someone like ex-Ireland international John O'Shea, who was part of Kenny's backroom team, take over the reins on a caretaker basis.
Rumours and reports continue to unfold in this managerial saga but a decision is probable in the coming days with the Boys in Green hosting Belgium and Switzerland next month.
