The GFS weather model for wind gusts over Ireland on Thursday, October 30
Met Éireann is predicting a nasty sting in the tail on the weather front for the coming week with a spell for very unsettled weather on its way to Ireland.
Forecasters there say the weather will be "mixed" this week despite "a dry start for most" on Bank Holiday Monday.
Later on Monday morning, "it will be cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle in the west and southwest and there'll be a few showers in Ulster. The cloud and rain will spread eastwards across the rest of the country during the afternoon. Moderate to fresh westerly winds, easing for a time but increasing again across Connacht and Munster through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees.
"Rain will gradually clear southeastwards [on Monday night] and will be followed by clear spells and scattered showers. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly winds," Met Éireann added.
Their latest forecast for this week continued:
"Plenty of dry and bright weather on Tuesday. Some showers will develop though, mainly in the north and west. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly winds.

"Becoming cloudy with patches of drizzle in the south on Tuesday night. Clear spells and scattered showers in other areas. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with moderate southwesterly winds.
"Cloud will linger in the south on Wednesday morning, bringing patchy light rain or drizzle. Otherwise it will be mainly dry with sunny spells, although some showers will continue to affect the northwest. During the late afternoon and evening, cloud will increase and rain will develop over the southern half of the country. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with moderate to fresh southwest to west winds, becoming strong for a time in Ulster.
"Cloudy, with rain moving northwards over the country, becoming lighter and patchy. Some showers may develop in the south later. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with light to moderate east to southeast winds."
While "there is uncertainty" in the forecast beyond that, Met Éireann reckons "a spell of wet and blustery or windy weather is possible on Thursday or Thursday night," bringing a nasty end to the week.
