Parents of ‘best friends’ who died on Tipperary road to skydive in their memory

The parents of two best friends who died on the same road in Tipperary will skydive in their honour
The parents of two “best friends” who died on the same road in Tipperary seven months apart are set to skydive in honour of their memory.
David Lahart of Killenaule died in a car accident on December 13th, 2025, while Sonny Tobin, originally from Kilkenny, died on July 26th, 2026, aged 19.
Jacinta Tobin and Ash Lahart are the parents of the two boys, who were “the best of friends” and shared “many happy memories together.”
“Our boys had the most incredible, happy, fun and loving personalities with so much love for anyone that was lucky to have them in their lives,” Jacinta wrote on an iDonate page, which was set up to raise funds for the Irish Road Victims Association (IRVA).
“What was so special about them was they both shared a special unique bond with their mammies and we would love to honour their memories together in a way we know they would be beaming with pride,” she added.
The two mothers will take part in a skydive with Skydive Ireland on November 28th.
They will be doing this as well as raising funds for the “incredible organisation” that have helped Jacinta and Ash throughout their tragic losses.
“There aren’t enough words to describe the time, work, effort but most of all care love and continuous support everyone within this organisation puts into helping people like myself and Ash everyday and sadly many more people around the country. We are beyond grateful for all that they do,” Jacinta said.
“Both Myself and Ash are terrified of heights and we know Sonny and David will be up there with us roaring laughing giving us the push and courage we need and they will be up there doing it with us,” she added.
The fundraiser has a goal of €1,000 but has already raised over €4,500.
All donations will go straight to the IRVA.
